Learning Resources

Here you can find a bunch of online learning resources that various MedSoc members have found useful during their time here. These tools will go hand in hand with the AMK tools we also post and a perfect way to kill 10 minutes if you want to expand your learning... ok enough clichés, take a look.

MedScape

This is really an incredible tool. You can sign up for free and with that, you get full access to a horde of editorials, forums, articles an case-studies. If you sign up to the emedicine newsletter (which I recommend you do), each week you get a list of the most interesting articles and a full case-study, with pictures, diagnostics, questions and full, detailed explanations on everything related to the case. A great tool!!

ORLive

A fantastic tool for all you budding surgeons. Contains over 600+ (and growing) surgical videos showing full operations with instructions and additional knowledge from the surgeons performing them. Sign up to gain access to the premier and live broadcasts. This really is an incredible insight into the life of a surgeon with nearly all specialities touched on.

OnExamination

A website full of MCQ questions in AMK style. Thousands of questions aimed at specific year groups and topics. Perfect learning tool for the AMK. Requires a subscription at £45 for 12 months although with a BMA membership, this is just £30. Well worth having!

BMJ Best Practice

A website that contains hundreds of disease frameworks and drug frameworks, neatly and easily categorised into the correct headings for you using current guidelines and research. Subscription is expensive at almost £100 a year but if you share it with friends, it can prove invaluable for PBL and beyond. Sign up for a 1-month free trial (and if you want, keep signing up using different email addresses... just an idea)
