Hello and welcome to the MedSoc Charity page‼
Building on the fantastic charity events of last year we’re going to make this year even BIGGER and BETTER. With our first organised fundraiser behind us (we had a charity dodgeball tournament at the end of last term) we are ready to kick off this year with more cracking events. We have lots of great daytime fundraiser and charity nights out in the pipeline for this year…
During fresher’s fortnight we hope to raise a some dollar for SHELO - our very own home-grown charity who we hope you will become very familiar with through a ‘Wax, Shave or Dye’ evening in Pitcher and Piano and in the second week with a fundraiser in the legendary Momma Stone’s live music bar. The ‘Wax, Shave or Dye’ night is going to be epic. We will be seeking out the brave fresh amongst you to volunteer to get something waxed, shaved or dyed- be it a leg,arm-pit, bum…we’ll take anything! It will be a fun evening guaranteed to be entertaining.
Other socials we have planned for first term are a Pink & Blue cocktail night and a Tribal Themed evening. But as much as we love a good night out, we have a few other tactics up our sleeves to get some coins for charity out of you generous folk. Late October/Early November will bring about The Naked Calendar. This is an annual ritual and proves to be one of the biggest fundraisers of the year. As daunting as it sounds to bare all and smile in front of a photo shoot,they are always great fun and the finished calendar will be a treasured item that will always get you laughing.
Another event we are very excited about is the Zumba-thon. We are very lucky to have a great Zumba leader work with us on this and she will ensure it will be a thoroughly enjoyable and amusing few hours. I’m sure all you ladies know and love Zumba, but we want to see all the boys getting involved and shaking their booties at this fundraiser too. We hope to hold the Zumba-thon late first term or early second term.
This is just the start of our plan for the next year. Any new upcoming events we will post here as we go along as well as on Facebook. So whether it’s the Naked Calendar or one of fun-fuelled fancy dress parties we hope you get involved and help raise money for some of the fantastic causes we are supporting!
